Movie Review of "Chhapaak"

The movie is based on a story of a 19 year aged brave girl having a indomitable spirit and who fought bravely for justice till she actually received it.
The movie ”Chhapaak” revolves around a teenage girl who is just 19 years old ,how she is subjected to a horrific acid incident that changes her life completely pushing her dreams ,ambitions everything to an end. Chhapaak is inspired by the real life story of an acid attack survivor named”Laxmi Aggarwal”,who have fought courageously not only providing justice to herself but also to many other acid attack survivors like her.She has become a source of inspiration to those girls and women ,who are afraid to fight for justice,who are scared to see their own face after such an incident.
The film is a real life stoy with Deepika padukone playing the central character ,Malti. Malti ,who is a very hardworking girl was attacked by one of her family friend named ‘Babbu’ and his aide.
In the film we found Malti ,trying to move on consciously from the emotional scars that had been left on her because of that heinous crime.she had to go through a number of surgeries to get back her face ,which was completely destroyed in that heinous crime.Malti who always have a dream of becoming a singer was now having her life revolving around court cases,family tensions like brother's illness ,father's death and etc.
Throughout her this tough journey ,she was having her lawyer (Madhurjeet sarghi) who was always by her side,whether it be her,Malti’s, PIL to ban the sale of acids in shops to amendments in the acid violence legislation. The other most important person that she was having by her side was Amol(Vikrant massey) ,in whose NGO Malti was employed.
Deepika padukone, the heart of the film,have delivered a brilliant ,immersive performance .Throughout the film ,there have been a number of times when she will bring tears to the viewers eyes through her acting skills.The scene when she sees her face first time after the attack will bring tears to the viewers eyes through her piercing cry.The scene when she was unable to put on a earing will make each and every viewer so emotional.She have clearly portrayed the pain both physical and mental that an acid attack survivor have to go through ,that cannot be explained in words.
Both Vikrant massey and Madhurjeet sarghi have given commendable performance in this film.
The music tracks especially the title track (soundtrack by Shankar Ehsaan loy)of Chhapaak have given goosebumps adding to the pitifulness of the mood.
Thus ,Chhapaak is a sensitive film portraying a heinous crime against women,how the life of that girl or woman changes after that ,and how the girl or woman can stand up and fight for her justice. It is a story that needs to be heard.
